2021 AAPS-NERDG Call for Abstracts
You are invited to submit an abstract for presentation at the 2021 AAPS-NERDG Annual Meeting, to be held on Friday, April 16, 2021. This year’s meeting will be a virtual online meeting.
Submission Deadline: January 22, 2021
Please download the abstract template here and upload your completed abstract at here.
Questions? Please email [email protected].
A completed abstract should be submitted by January 22, 2021. The presenter will be notified of the abstract review committee’s decision no later than March 8, 2021. Please note that there is a 350 word limit, and all abstracts should be submitted using the template. Abstracts previously presented at local conferences are permitted. However, abstracts accepted and presented at national events are not allowed.
Academic Research Award (ARA)
The Academic Research Award (ARA) is limited to graduate students who are pursuing Master’s, Doctorate and PharmD degrees at the time of the meeting. The work presented should have been performed by the student only, and collaborative work should not be presented. Each student chosen to participate will give a 15-20 min live slide presentation to the judging committee as well as general audience. The students will be judged on the research content as well as the presentation skills including the ability to communicate to a wide audience. As reflected in the session title, an alternate speaker cannot be substituted for the ARA presenting author who is listed in the abstract submission. A presenting author who cannot present on the meeting date should inform Dana Gates as soon as possible at [email protected] to withdraw his or her abstract.
Due to limitations on the number presentation slots that the NERDG conference can accommodate, all ARA applications may not be chosen for presentation. In such cases, the ARA submission may be considered for Short Topic Presentation (STP) or Rapid Fire Presentation (RFP) if both the submitter and committee mutually agree
Rapid Fire Presentation (RFP)
The Regular Poster Presentations from previous years is being replaced with Rapid Fire Presentations (RFP) to complement the virtual format of this meeting. The RFPs are open to all NERDG participants and cover all topics related to pharmaceutical research, development, and technology. The pre-recorded presentation time is 5-7 minutes followed by 3-5 minutes of live questions. If accepted, presenters are expected send their pre-recorded presentation by April 2, 2021 and are expected to attend the live session to address questions. Please contact Sameera Sansare at [email protected] with any questions.
Short Topic Presentation (STP)
The Short Topic Presentation (STP) format is designed to give academic and industrial scientists in the field the opportunity to present and discuss their research in a smaller, more interactive setting and is open to all NERDG participants. The topics for presentations are open to any area of pharmaceutical research, development and technology. The live presentation time is 15-20 min followed by 10-15 minutes of questions. The lead author (first author) is defined as the individual who has performed the majority of the research and is expected to be the one presenting the material. The lead author should present and answer questions during the live session. However, if s/he cannot be present the day of the conference, a substitute presenter should be designated. The lead author should inform the committee as soon as possible at [email protected].
Due to limitations on the number presentation slots that the NERDG conference can accommodate, all STP applications may not be chosen for presentation. In such cases, the STP submission may be considered for a Rapid Fire Presentation (RFP) if both the submitter and committee mutually agree.

Business Continuity across the CRO/Innovator Partnership during COVID-19
“Never let a good crisis go to waste” – Winston Churchill
The value of pharmaceutical research and drug development has become increasingly relevant in the public debate, while paradoxically the community of scientists and clinicians collectively pursuing therapeutic and vaccine strategies for COVID-19 have had to work in increasingly constrained environments – managing spatial and temporal workforce challenges, supply chain disruptions, and workforce healthcare concerns. The reciprocity of mutual success within the innovator (pharma, biotech, academia) and service provider (CRO, supply chain) community has been highlighted during the COVID-19 crisis. Presumed temporary changes in business strategy (work from home; remote study monitoring; flexible resourcing) to accommodate COVID-19 realities offer an opportunity to create durable “best practices” that will test status quo approaches to drug development and marketplace partnerships. This presentation will highlight learning and experiences being realized in today’s CRO/Innovator environment, that will strengthen business continuity planning for future crisis events, and more importantly, provide new approaches of executing work at a lower costs basis (efficiencies), with expedited endpoints (speed), and ultimately with more timely delivery of novel medicines to patients in need (world health).
The official partner for this event is Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS)..!!
